With its extreme proportions (the x-height is 29% of ascender height), Buslingthorpe is informed by two iconic early 20th century designs from the heyday of the tiny x-height genre, Koch Antiqua (Rudolf Koch, Klingspor Foundry, 1922) and Lucian (Lucian Bernhard, Bauer Foundry, 1925). However, the style of the letters is quite conventional—crisp and transitional.
