What would typically be considered Architect-style lettering emerged from the need for clarity, precision, and consistency in architectural drawings.

This unique style of handwriting can be traced back to the early 20th century, when the architectural drafting process required clear, easily legible text that could convey information in a small space. This style became a hallmark of professionalism, emphasizing functionality and a clean, technical aesthetic that supported complex designs.

Before the advent of computer design, architectural drawings were done entirely by hand, so the ability to produce uniform, readable text quickly and consistently was essential. Lettering needed to be simple enough to be legible at small sizes, yet stylized to maintain an authoritative and formal look. Its minimal characteristics made it possible to produce easily readable text without sacrificing speed.

It offers uppercase and lowercase characters, along with numerals, punctuation, symbols and language support, plus a collection of underlines, arrows and other symbols.

The Four Styles:

Regular:

The default Regular design offers a refined version of the original handwriting style with a cleaner look and lower vector point count, making for an efficient and lightweight font.

Marker:
The nearest thing to the original handwritten pen with the imperfections maintained.A characteristic alternative to the Regular font with a textured feel.

Italic:
All Regular, Marker, Ruled and All-Caps variants are also provided with an Italic version. Great for emphasising a particular statement or line of text.

Ruled:
A ready-made solution for quick headers and tabs that replicates the hand-drawn guidelines lines of architectural drawings.

Alternatives:
Consistency is great when it comes to fonts, but it can also take away from the human touch when you spot visual repetitions such as 'AA' and 'EE' and 'II'. Using OpenType features you can overcome this by taking advantage of the two additional sets of alternative alphabets.
