This set contains 25 cadel flourishes. A cadel is a calligraphic flourishing technique employing the use of 45 degree angled geometry instead of curvilinear loops. Cadels were largely used with the Bastardas, Frakturs, and other Gothic scripts to add weight to an open letter and a unique zest to the text. Most simple cadels can be expanded into families of increasing complexity and decorative quality. Because of their geometric nature, you can use them in a variety of ways outside of their 15th Century applications such as for display type, borders, frames, and patterns.
