Schooner Script replicates the handwriting of Samuel Clarke, pastor of a church in Princeton, Massachusetts, in a letter to his congregation dated 18 September 1825—a plea for donations to help some families who lost their belongings in an accident at sea. (The ill-fated boat was, in fact, a sloop, but a digital typeface already went by that name.) Clarke’s script seems evocative of the neat, distinctive penmanship of the period.
Schooner Script has a single, medium weight with very long descenders. OpenType features, include standard and discretionary ligatures, true fractions, lining and tabular figures, and support for Central and Eastern European languages.
